The second leg of our jouney took us to Cinque Terre National Park along the west coast of Italy. Cinque Terre translates to "Five Lands" and describes the five villages of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. These mountainous coastal villages are connected by a network of ancient hiking trails and a modern train system. On our first full day in Cinque Terre we hiked the trails connecting the five destinations, stopping in every town for gelatto and espresso. On our second day in Cinque Terre we took the Water Taxi to the village of Monterosso (the only one of the villages not built into Sea Cliffs) and spent the day relaxing on the beach.
